An exhibition booth is the most expensive square metre your brand will rent all year. This guide covers standard booth sizes, what a custom build actually costs in Egypt for 2026, and the spec decisions that decide whether your stand pulls traffic or gets walked past.
The three ways to get a booth, and what each one costs
Every exhibition stand in Egypt falls into one of three procurement routes. The price gap between them is enormous, and most marketing teams pick the wrong one because no one explained the trade-off.
Shell scheme (organiser-supplied) — the white-walled modular booth the expo organiser rents you. You get walls, a fascia name board, a power socket, and basic lighting. Cheapest route, near-zero design control, and it looks identical to every other stand in the hall. Fine for a first appearance or a tight budget.
System booth (modular custom) — reusable aluminium-profile framing dressed with printed graphic panels. Faster to build, lighter to ship, and you can reuse the frame across multiple shows. The sweet spot for most brands exhibiting two or more times a year.
Custom build (space-only) — you rent bare floor and build a bespoke structure on it. Full creative control, custom heights, hanging signs, double-deck options. Highest cost, longest lead time, strongest brand impact. This is what wins best-stand awards.

Standard exhibition booth sizes
Egyptian expo halls quote floor space in square metres, and stands cluster around a few standard footprints. Knowing them helps you read a floor plan before you commit:
9 sqm (3m × 3m) — the smallest practical booth. One open side, room for a counter, a backdrop, and two or three people. Entry-level presence.
18 sqm (6m × 3m) — the workhorse mid-size stand. Space for a meeting nook, product display, and a branded back wall. Most common corporate footprint.
27 sqm (9m × 3m) — a corner or longer linear stand that lets you split zones: welcome, demo, and a semi-private discussion area.
36 sqm and up — island or peninsula stands open on multiple sides. This is where custom builds, raised floors, and hanging banners earn their keep.
Ceiling height matters as much as floor area. Most Cairo halls allow builds up to 4m to 6m; anything taller, or any suspended rigging, needs organiser approval and changes your structural plan.
What a custom exhibition booth costs in Egypt in 2026
There is no single price per square metre, because the structure, finish, and AV decide the number. But you can plan against honest working ranges. These figures are direction, not a quote, and assume a space-only custom build:
Structure and fabrication — the framing, walls, counters, raised floor, and custom joinery. Usually the single largest line, and it scales with height, complexity, and how much bespoke carpentry the design demands.
Graphics and finishing — large-format UV-printed panels, vinyl, fascia branding, and surface finishes. Quality here is what separates a premium stand from a trade-fair cliché.
Lighting and electrical — track lighting, spotlights, backlit logo boxes, power distribution. Under-budgeted on most stands, and the first thing visitors notice from across the hall.
AV and digital — LED screens, monitors, touch displays, and the rigging to mount them. Optional, but increasingly the centrepiece of a modern booth.
Install, dismantle, and logistics — build crew, transport to the venue, on-site supervision, and teardown. Always a separate line, never free, and tighter venue timelines push it up.
The reason quotes vary so widely is that two stands of the same square footage can differ threefold once you change the build complexity, the finish quality, and the AV load. Compare quotes on what is actually inside them, not on the headline rate per square metre.
The spec decisions that decide whether your booth works
A booth is a sales tool, not a sculpture. The choices below separate stands that generate conversations from stands that look nice and convert nobody:
One clear message at eye level — a visitor walking the aisle gives you about three seconds. If they cannot tell what you do from across the hall, the build failed regardless of how much it cost.
An open, inviting layout — booths that wall visitors out get walked past. Leave the front open and pull the branding up high where it is visible above the crowd.
Lighting that lifts the stand — halls are large and evenly lit, which makes every stand look flat. Directional lighting and backlit elements are the cheapest way to make a booth pop.
Somewhere to actually talk — if your goal is leads, you need a counter or a seated nook where a conversation can happen without shouting over the aisle.
A reason to stop — a live demo, a screen, a working product, or an interactive element. Stands that give visitors something to do hold them long enough to start a conversation.

Booth setup and build timeline
Custom stands are not built overnight, and most venues give exhibitors a tight build window before the show opens. A realistic production timeline runs design and approval first, then fabrication in the workshop, then transport and on-site install during the organiser's build-up days.
Briefing your production company late is the single most common cause of a rushed, over-budget, or compromised stand. The earlier the brief, the more the budget buys.
How to brief an exhibition booth project
To get comparable quotes from any stand builder, give them these eight things up front: the show name and hall, your stand number and exact dimensions, whether it is shell scheme or space-only, your open sides, your ceiling-height allowance, what has to happen on the stand (demo, meetings, product display), your three must-have brand elements, and your date the design has to be locked.
A brief with those answers gets you proposals you can actually compare. A vague brief gets you guesses.
Booth design FAQ
What is the standard exhibition booth size? The smallest practical footprint is 9 sqm (3m × 3m); the most common corporate stands run 18 sqm to 27 sqm. Larger island stands start at 36 sqm.
How much does an exhibition booth cost in Egypt? It depends almost entirely on whether you take a shell scheme, a reusable system booth, or a space-only custom build, and then on the structure, finish quality, and AV load inside it. Compare quotes on contents, not on rate per square metre.
How long does it take to build a custom booth? Plan for design and approval, then workshop fabrication, then install during the venue's build-up days. The tighter your brief-to-show window, the more you pay and the less the design can do.
